[Financial News] People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk on the 13th dismissed President Lee Jae-myung’s approval ratings, which hover around 60%, as nothing more than a "sandcastle." He predicted that a real estate "crisis" would soon erupt, now that President Lee is personally sending signals to the housing market.
Posting on social media (SNS) the same day, Jang wrote, "Complaints are already erupting from ordinary people living in jeonse and monthly rental housing," adding, "The moment a real estate catastrophe becomes reality and the public directly experiences the damage from the destruction of the rule of law, the approval ratings they so firmly trust will prove to be a futile sandcastle."
Jang pointed out that, even as President Lee used social media the previous day to urge multi-home owners to sell by mentioning the suspension of loan extensions, lawmakers of the ruling Democratic Party of Korea are not putting their own properties on the market. He asked rhetorically, "What do you make of the black comedy in which even the so-called 'Protect Lee Jae-myung faction' in the National Assembly defies the president’s order and turns into a 'protect real estate faction'?"
He went on, "To the public, a president who is ignored even by his own household yet shouts at unrelated citizens night after night looks like nothing more than an 'armchair warrior in the master bedroom'," urging, "Stop intimidating the people over real estate, and start listening to their voices."
Referring to the cancellation of the president’s cross-party luncheon the previous day due to his own absence, Jang added, "President Lee may have secretly felt relieved," but warned, "It will be far harsher for him to hear directly from the people the criticism he would have heard from me."
