Hana Card, UnionPay launch 20% instant discount promotion in China, Vietnam and Japan

Hana Card announced on the 13th that it will run an instant discount promotion for its Travelog Check Card in China, Vietnam and Japan, where demand for UnionPay (UPI) is high.
The promotion is available to customers who pre-register their UnionPay (UPI) Travelog Check Card as an instant discount card by applying on the Hana Pay app event page and then registering the card. When they spend at least USD 50 at offline merchants in mainland China (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and other regions), Vietnam or Japan, they receive a 20% instant discount. The discount is capped at USD 10 per transaction and can be used up to three times during the promotion period.
UnionPay (UPI) noted that this 20% instant discount promotion with Hana Card offers one of the highest discount rates among promotions it has run with Korean card issuers, and added that similar high-level discount offers may not be easy to find in the future.
In China, customers can also receive the same instant discount when they register the eligible card with Alipay or WeChat Pay and pay by QR code. In addition, the 3% payment fee is waived.
In Japan, customers can enjoy extra benefits at major local merchants on top of the 20% instant discount. In particular, coupon-based offers at Tsuruha Drug Store and Bic Camera can be combined with the 20% instant discount, allowing shoppers to receive even greater savings.
The promotion runs until April 30 and may end early if the budget is exhausted.
