Financial News has learned that the audio of the 119 emergency calls made when men in their 20s were found dead one after another at a motel in Gangbuk District in northern Seoul has been released. Reports indicate that, by the time of the calls, the victims were already not breathing and their bodies were cold and stiff.
On the 12th, CBS No Cut News released the 119 call recordings related to the serial death case in Gangbuk District, obtained through the office of Yang Bu-nam, a lawmaker from the Democratic Party of Korea who sits on the National Assembly’s Public Administration and Security Committee.
According to CBS No Cut News, at about 5:39 p.m. on the 10th, an employee at a motel in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk District, answered a firefighter’s question, "He’s not breathing at all right now, correct?" by replying, "He’s not breathing, and his body has already gone stiff."
When the fire official went on to say, "We’re going to connect you to the emergency treatment unit at the same time, so please stay on the line," the motel employee again described the man’s condition, saying, "There’s discharge coming out of his nose and everything like that."
The victim was a man in his 20s, identified only as B, who had checked into the motel on the 9th with a woman in her 20s, identified only as A. A motel employee found B dead, curled up on the bed in the room, and called the police. B is believed to have died after drinking a beverage that A handed to him.
On the 29th of last month, another man in his 20s was also found dead at a motel in Gangbuk District after drinking a beverage given to him by A. At 2:53 p.m. that day, the person who discovered the man called 119 and said, "He’s a guest who looks like he’s sleeping," adding, "I don’t know when or what exactly happened, or whether he’s even breathing... I just came closer and shook him a bit, and his body seems stiff."
At about 9:24 p.m. on the 28th of last month, A checked into a motel in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk District, with this man and gave him a hangover remedy drink containing drugs. He was found dead the following day.
The Seoul Gangbuk Police Station urgently arrested A at around 9 p.m. on the 10th. On the 12th, the Single-Judge Criminal Division 10 of the Seoul Northern District Court, presided over by Judge Choi Ki-won, held a pretrial detention hearing for A, who is suspected of causing injury resulting in death and violating the Narcotics Control Act, and then issued an arrest warrant. The court cited a risk of flight.
