On the morning of the 12th, Choi Ki-won, a judge with Single-Judge Criminal Division 10 of the Seoul Northern District Court, held a pre-trial detention warrant hearing for the woman, identified as A, on charges of causing death by injury and violating the Narcotics Control Act.
A arrived at the court at around 9:54 a.m. that day. She did not answer questions such as whether she had prepared the drugs in advance, why she handed over the substances, whether she intended to kill, or what relationship she had with the deceased men. A decision on whether she will be taken into custody is expected as early as later in the afternoon.
A is suspected of handing a beverage containing an unidentified drug to a male victim in his 20s, identified as B, at a motel in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk District, leading to his death.
Police investigations found that A entered the motel with B at around 8:30 p.m. on the 9th and left the building alone about two hours later. At around 5:40 p.m. the next day, on the 10th, a motel employee discovered B dead, curled up on the bed in the room, and reported it to the police.
Responding to the report, police urgently arrested A at around 9 p.m. the same day. No signs of external assault, such as wounds or bloodstains, were found on B’s body, according to reports.
Police believe A is highly likely to have used the same method not only on B but also on another man, identified as C. Autopsies are underway to determine the exact causes of death for both B and C.
