Hyundai, Kia and BMW to Voluntarily Recall 179,880 Vehicles

A total of 36,603 units of the Hyundai Porter II Electric will be recalled from the 12th due to a software error in the electric vacuum pump. The defect can cause the pump to malfunction and may reduce braking performance.
For 39,148 vehicles across 20 models, including the Hyundai Grandeur and Hyundai Sonata, a software error in the instrument cluster control unit was found to cause the cluster to shut off, which does not meet safety standards. Corrective measures will begin today.
For 20,578 units of the Kia Bongo III EV, a software error in the electric vacuum pump was found that can lead to pump malfunction and potentially reduce braking performance, so recalls will start on the 24th. In addition, 69,137 vehicles across 16 models, including the Kia K8, will be recalled from today due to instrument cluster control software errors that can cause the cluster to turn off.
For 9,914 vehicles across 13 models, including the BMW i5 eDrive40, BMW Korea has been conducting recalls since the 4th. A software error in the air conditioner compressor control unit can shut down the high-voltage system, which may cause the vehicle to stall.
Owners can check whether their vehicle is subject to recall and view detailed defect information by entering the license plate number or vehicle identification number on the Korea Automobile Recall Center website.
