[Financial News] President Lee Jae-myung issued a message on the 10th commemorating the late Warrant Officers Jeong Sang-geun and Jang Hee-seong, who died in the line of duty while carrying out a training mission in harsh winter weather, stating, "We will ensure there is no neglect in providing them with proper honors and support."
In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter) that day, President Lee wrote, "I bow my head in respect to the noble sacrifice of the late Warrant Officers Jeong Sang-geun and Jang Hee-seong, who lost their lives while performing a training mission in severe weather conditions."
He continued, "Until the very end, the two officers kept their hands on the controls and protected the lives and safety of our people," adding, "The crash site was only about 60 meters away from a residential area. Had the aircraft veered even slightly off course, it could have resulted in far greater loss of life."
He went on to stress, "We will always remember that our peaceful daily lives rest upon the dedication and sacrifice of true soldiers."
Addressing the bereaved families, President Lee said, "I offer my deepest condolences and sympathy to the families who had to say farewell to a proud son, husband, and father," and added, "Though I cannot possibly fathom the depth of your sorrow, we will ensure there is no neglect in providing proper honors and support."
