"Should I Buy Samsung Electronics or Not?" Koreans Ask ChatGPT as Usage Time Jumps Eightfold in a Year

According to Financial News, Korean smartphone users spent more than 3 billion minutes using OpenAI's AI service model ChatGPT in January.
WiseApp Retail, a real-time app and payment data analytics company, reported on the 10th that a sample survey of Korean smartphone users showed total ChatGPT app usage time in January reached 3.4 billion minutes, the highest level on record.
This represents more than an eightfold increase compared with 400 million minutes in the same month a year earlier.
Looking at monthly ChatGPT usage time in Korea, it surpassed 1 billion minutes in March last year and then jumped to 2.8 billion minutes a month later. Usage stayed in the 2-billion-minute range for seven months, before breaking through the 3-billion-minute mark in November of the same year.

During the same period, the ChatGPT app had 22.4 million monthly active users in Korea. This was a slight increase of 0.7% from 22.24 million the previous month, again setting a new record high. Compared with 7.29 million users a year earlier, the figure has more than tripled.
The findings are based on a sample survey by WiseApp Retail of Korean users of Android and iOS smartphones.
