[Financial News] A nine-year-old from Poland has pushed the limits of human ability with a standard-size cube. By breaking the so-called "three-second barrier," he also set a new world record.
On the 9th (local time), the World Cube Association (WCA) and others reported that nine-year-old Teodor Zajder solved a 3x3x3 cube in 2.76 seconds at a speedcubing competition held on the 7th and 8th at Primary School No. 48 in Gdańsk, Poland.
The 3x3x3 event is considered the standard cube category, and three seconds has long been viewed as the limit of human performance. The previous world record was 3.05 seconds, set last year by Chinese child Geng Xuan. A robot developed by a Purdue University research team solved a cube in 0.103 seconds and was listed in Guinness World Records last year.
In November 2023, Zajder also set a world record by completing a 2x2x2 cube in 0.43 seconds, but he later lost the title when Chinese child Ye Ziyu lowered the time by 0.04 seconds.
Poland is a powerhouse in competitive cubing, with World Cube Association-recognized champions in the 4x4x4 and 5x5x5 events as well.
