It is not Dujjonku (short for "Dubai chewy cookie"), but "Dujjonko." A handwritten promotion on a sign at a local fruit shop is drawing attention. /Photo = online community

[Financial News] "A thick and chewy Korean snack"A witty ad line at a fruit shop that plays on the name of Dujjonku (the popular "Dubai chewy cookie") has gone viral online.
A photo posted on an online community on the 7th shows a handwritten sign standing in front of a display where clear plastic packs, each holding 10 dried persimmons, are neatly stacked. The sign reads, "Sold-out sensation! Thick and chewy Korean snack, 5,000 won per pack."
Dujjonku became so popular that people said it was "impossible to buy because it keeps selling out," even though a single piece costs between 7,000 and 10,000 won. By changing just one syllable of that name, the fruit shop created a clever phrase that quickly spread among users and went viral, especially on SNS.
Online commenters praised the idea, saying, "The owner knows the trends," "Such great sense from the dried-persimmon lady," and "A groundbreaking idea." Others left comments hyping dried persimmons themselves, such as "Dried persimmons are the original K-chewy snack," "This is it, even tigers love dried persimmons," and "Move over, Dujjonku, Dujjonko is here."
Some users also pointed out the price difference, saying, "One Dujjonku costs more than 10 dried persimmons," and "Suddenly Dujjonku feels really expensive," noting that the dried persimmons are a much better deal compared with Dujjonku, which can cost up to 10,000 won per piece.
