[Financial News] Former Korean history instructor and far‐right YouTuber Jeon Han-gil, who left the country last August and had been staying overseas, returned to Korea after 162 days and accepted Reform Party leader Lee Jun-seok’s proposal for a "1‐on‐4 debate on election fraud."
During a live broadcast on his YouTube channel "Jeon Han-gil News" on the 6th, Jeon stated, "Fine, Lee Jun-seok can come alone. I will bring three experts with me."
Jeon said he accepted Lee’s debate proposal "to stop Lee Jun-seok from wriggling out of it with wordplay," adding, "It is also to present evidence to the entire nation on whether election fraud did or did not occur, and to prevent a wasteful war of attrition where the controversy keeps dragging on."
He went on, "I will respond confidently so that people are not confused by this controversy. Let’s do it live so the whole country can watch," and proposed, "Whether it’s the three major terrestrial broadcasters or YouTube, let’s do it live and have a head‐to‐head showdown over who is right. Let’s see it through to the end."
Jeon also declared, "If he is that confident, Lee should be willing to put his parliamentary seat on the line. I will stake my honor and everything I have."
He also mentioned a possible date for the live debate.
Referring to Lee’s remark that "it’s fine to do it after the police questioning" on the 12th, when Jeon is scheduled to appear for police investigation, Jeon stressed, "I will handle the police questioning myself, so do not interfere."
Those on Jeon’s side who also allege election fraud have been actively stating their positions on the debate.
Min Kyung-wook, a former United Future Party lawmaker and one of the most prominent figures claiming election fraud, asserted that "Lee Jun-seok has dug his own grave" and that Jeon will utterly crush him in the debate on election fraud. Calling the head‐to‐head debate on alleged election fraud "the showdown of the century," he urged the three major broadcasters to quickly schedule the program.
