India, which has reached a trade agreement with the United States, is preparing to purchase about 80 billion dollars' worth of US-made aircraft, equivalent to roughly 117 trillion won.
On the 5th (local time), Consumer News and Business Channel (CNBC) reported that India is getting ready to place a massive order for Boeing aircraft, signaling an expansion of trade with the United States.
India's Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal stated that if engines and other spare parts are included in addition to the aircraft themselves, the total purchase volume will exceed 100 billion dollars.
On the 2nd, US President Donald Trump said that India would buy oil from the United States and Venezuela instead of Russian crude, and announced that tariffs imposed on Indian imports would be cut from 50% to 18%.
Trump also claimed that the total amount of US goods India had agreed to purchase would reach 500 billion dollars, but trade experts have expressed skepticism, saying the figure is excessively high.
Minister Goyal said that India and the United States would sign a joint statement on trade within the next three to four days, adding that the US tariff reduction to 18% would begin to take effect immediately.
