According to Financial News, police have launched a compulsory investigation into various allegations involving independent lawmaker Kim Byung-ki.
Based on Financial News reporting on the 6th, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency (SMPA) Public Crime Investigation Unit began a search and seizure at the National Assembly Secretariat in Yeongdeungpo District at 10 a.m. on the same day.
Kim is facing 13 allegations, including receiving money in connection with party nominations, granting favors and abusing his position, intervening in his second son's transfer to Soongsil University, and attempting to derail an investigation into his wife's alleged misuse of a corporate credit card.
After analyzing the materials obtained through the raid, police are expected to summon Kim for questioning in the near future.
