KOSPI falls to close at 5,163.57 on heavy foreign and institutional selling

According to Financial News, the KOSPI ended lower as foreign and institutional investors turned net sellers together.
On the 5th, the KOSPI finished at 5,163.57, down 207.53 points, or 3.86%, from the previous session.
During intraday trading, the index at one point fell as much as 228.90 points, or 4.26%, to 5,142.20, briefly slipping below the 5,200 level.
In the KOSPI Market, foreign investors sold 6.0403 trillion won worth of shares. Institutions also recorded heavy net selling of 2.6099 trillion won. In contrast, individual investors bought a net 8.3324 trillion won.
Most large-cap stocks by market capitalization declined. Samsung Electronics and SK hynix dropped 5.80% and 6.44%, respectively, while Hyundai Motor fell 3.08% and LG Energy Solution lost 1.86%.
By sector, electrical and electronics stocks slid 5.56%, manufacturing fell 4.72%, and machinery and equipment declined 4.66%.
The KOSDAQ Index closed at 1,108.41, down 41.02 points, or 3.57%, from the previous day.
