Former Lawmaker Landlord Accused of Forcing Entry Into Female Student’s Goshiwon Room

According to police on the 5th, Seoul Dongdaemun Police Station received a complaint on the 19th of last month and is investigating the goshiwon operator, identified only by the initial A, an 88-year-old man, on suspicion of trespassing. A previously served two terms in the National Assembly in the 1990s.
He is suspected of trying to enter the room of a Chinese female international student, identified as B, at the goshiwon he operates in Dongdaemun District in Seoul at around 4 p.m. on the 12th of last month.
At the time, B had accidentally fallen asleep without locking her door. A reportedly knocked from outside, and when there was no answer, he opened the door.
A is said to have explained that he opened the door to check on what he claimed was unusually high electricity usage.
He is currently partially denying the allegations.
