Financial News reported that a guest on a Mexican TV show sparked controversy by making disparaging remarks about BTS and their fandom.
On the 4th (local time), the YouTube and Instagram accounts of Multimedios Channel 6 (Canal 6) in Mexico uploaded a segment from the entertainment program "Chismorreo" (Spanish for gossip or tittle-tattle) that had aired late last month, showing a panel discussion.
The show discussed alleged unfair practices in ticket sales for the BTS World Tour concert in Mexico City and the public backlash. A video summarized issues such as undisclosed seating charts, opaque fee structures, and suspected pre-arranged ticket resales, as well as the response measures announced by Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.
After watching the video, the panelists argued that rising ticket prices for popular concerts are to be expected. The problem arose when one of the guests, Fabián Lavalle, said, "If I had a 17-year-old daughter, I would make her do her homework," and added, "This is not the time to be crying and screaming over some unknown singer's concert," while images and video clips of BTS were shown on screen.
The host quickly tried to rein him in, saying, "For many kids, it is their dream to see BTS in person." However, Fernanda went further and sneered, "I guarantee you that half of the fans probably didn’t even finish elementary school, yet they’re trying to go to the concert."
Some observers noted that, given the nature of the program, the guests may have deliberately used more provocative language. Even so, Yonhap News Agency reported that many local viewers felt the panelists had "crossed the line" with their careless comments about BTS and their fans.

Major social media accounts for the Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth (ARMY), the BTS fandom in Mexico, as well as the comment sections under clips of the broadcast, were filled with posts condemning the hosts for openly expressing prejudice about education levels and mocking fans’ love for the artists.
Examples included comments such as, "I’d a thousand times rather have my daughter listen to BTS than to a singer who hurls insults at women or to songs about women sobbing over men," "A textbook case of jealousy toward a global artist," and "A pure gossip show that makes no positive contribution to society whatsoever."
Meanwhile, BTS is scheduled to hold concerts in Mexico City on May 7 and 9–10. Earlier, President Claudia Sheinbaum sent a letter to President Lee Jae-myung requesting support for more concerts, and said she had received a reply stating, "We deeply appreciate the interest in BTS and have conveyed your views to the production company."
