According to Financial News, the ex-husband of First Lady Jill Biden, wife of U.S. President Joe Biden, has been indicted on charges of killing his wife.
Foreign media including the Associated Press (AP) reported on the 3rd local time that Bill Stevenson, who was married to the First Lady in the 1970s, is accused of killing his wife Linda, 64, at their home in Wilmington, Delaware, on December 28 last year.
Police reportedly responded to a domestic disturbance call and found Linda lying unconscious in the living room.
After an investigation by authorities, Stevenson was arrested on a first-degree murder charge. He remains in custody after failing to post bail set at 500,000 dollars, roughly 720 million won.
Stevenson was married to the First Lady from 1970 to 1975. She later married U.S. senator from Delaware Joe Biden in 1977 and entered the White House as First Lady in 2021 for a four-year term.
In 2020, when Biden was the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee, Stevenson raised allegations that Jill Biden and Biden had an affair. He claimed that the First Lady had been in a serious relationship with Biden even before their divorce.
Biden countered that he first met Jill in 1975. He had lost his first wife and daughter in a car accident in 1972.
In a 2024 interview with conservative outlet Newsmax, Stevenson also claimed that Jill Biden was hot-tempered and mean, and that their divorce was far from amicable.
Jill Biden, meanwhile, has said she will not comment on Stevenson’s indictment.
