Bae, Kim & Lee Hires Former KLRI Expert Dr. Jung Won-joon [Law Firm News]

[Financial News] Bae, Kim & Lee announced on the 4th that it has hired Dr. Jung Won-joon, former head of the AI Legislation Team at the Korea Legislation Research Institute (KLRI), as a senior research fellow. The firm said the move is aimed at strengthening its advisory capabilities in the fields of artificial intelligence and data legislation.
Dr. Jung is an expert who has conducted extensive legal and policy research and advisory work in the area of IT and digital regulation. He worked for about 14 years at the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI) and KLRI, where he served as head of the AI Legislation Team.
In particular, he has contributed to the development of national policies through advisory and committee activities for numerous government bodies, including the Ministry of Science and ICT, the National AI Strategy Committee, the Office for Government Policy Coordination, the Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC), the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS), the Ministry of Intellectual Property, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST). In recognition of these contributions, he has received multiple honors, including a Prime Minister's Commendation and three ministerial commendations.
He has also consistently published numerous books and academic papers on artificial intelligence and data legislation. Dr. Jung graduated from the Department of Law at Sungkyunkwan University and obtained a master's degree in commercial law and a doctorate in intellectual property law from Korea University.
Drawing on his extensive experience in government advisory work and research, Dr. Jung will serve as a senior research fellow in the BKL TMT & DPC Group. He is expected to provide legal advice and legislative consulting on AI law, data law, personal information protection law, intellectual property law, and science and technology law, as well as broader regulatory and policy advisory services in related areas.
