Financial News reported that police have summoned former presidential secretary for general affairs Yoon Jae-soon as a suspect over allegations that he was involved in wiping computers at the Office of the President of South Korea immediately after former President Yoon Suk Yeol was removed from office.
The Special Investigation Headquarters for Cases Referred by the Three Independent Counsels within the Korean National Police Agency (KNPA) announced on the 3rd that it had summoned Yoon Jae-soon as a suspect that morning. He is being questioned on charges including damaging public electronic records, violating the Presidential Records Management Act, and abuse of authority.
Yoon is accused of ordering, together with former Chief of Staff to the President Chung Jin-suk, the wiping of about 1,000 computers at the presidential office while handing over duties to the new administration.
The Special Investigation Headquarters had earlier taken over the case from the Special Counsel for Insurrection and has been conducting an investigation. This is the first time Yoon has been questioned in connection with the case.
