According to The Financial News, BTS will broadcast their comeback stage at Seoul's Gwanghwamun Square live to audiences around the world on March 21.
Big Hit Music announced on the 3rd that BTS will hold "BTS The Comeback Live: Arirang" at 8 p.m. (Korea Standard Time) on March 21 at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul. The performance will be streamed live via Netflix to about 190 countries and regions worldwide.
First-ever solo concert by a singer at Gwanghwamun Square
The stage has been organized to celebrate the release of a new album of the same name. New songs, including the title track, will be unveiled for the first time at Gwanghwamun Square, one of the most iconic locations representing Korea, giving the event strong symbolic meaning. In particular, this will be the first time a singer has held a solo concert at Gwanghwamun Square, and through this performance BTS is expected to set yet another milestone in Korean cultural history.
Back in 2020, BTS presented a special stage set against Geunjeongjeon Hall of Gyeongbokgung Palace and Gyeonghoeru Pavilion as part of the "BTS Week" project on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon." Nearly five and a half years later, this new performance in the heart of downtown Seoul is expected to mark a symbolic moment that signals a fresh start for BTS.
"BTS The Comeback Live: Arirang" is being produced in collaboration with Netflix, and it will be the first time a major event held in Korea is broadcast live worldwide through Netflix.
Big Hit Music explained that it chose Gwanghwamun Square as the comeback stage, saying, "In light of the symbolism carried by the new album 'Arirang,' we wanted to present the first performance in a space that represents Korea."
On March 27, the documentary film "BTS: The Return," which follows the making of the new album, will be released exclusively on Netflix. The film captures the concerns BTS faced during the creative process for their first new album in about three years and nine months, as well as the journey that led to "the BTS of today."
Meanwhile, the fifth full-length album "Arirang," set for release at 1 p.m. on March 20, will feature a total of 14 tracks. The album explores universal emotions such as the group's identity, longing, and deep love, and is expected to resonate with music fans around the world.
