According to Financial News, President Lee Jae Myung reiterated his determination to stabilize the real estate market on the 3rd, declaring, "The Republic of Korea is a great nation that has overcome even rebellion and started anew. Are we really incapable of cracking down on something as clearly unjust as real estate speculation?"
Posting on social media (SNS) the same day, President Lee wrote, "If we stop calculating immediate political gains and losses, there are any number of policy tools we can use," adding, "This is not a threat or a bluff. I am recommending this because it is necessary and beneficial for everyone. This is the last chance to get out."
He went on, "Lastly, the power chosen by the people has changed. My average campaign pledge fulfillment rate is 95%. Even as a candidate desperate to win, I have tried my best to keep every promise I made," stressing, "Now, as the president who holds the ultimate authority in the Republic of Korea, I have no reason to make empty remarks. To those who dismiss this as bluster, and to those who sympathize with the tears of multiple-home owners and defend real estate speculation, I urge you to look squarely, with a clear and cool mind, at how reality has changed."
