[Financial News] As SK hynix posted its highest-ever earnings last year thanks to a boom in memory semiconductors, many have predicted that employees will receive an average performance bonus of over 100 million won. Against this backdrop, one SK hynix employee has gone viral after sharing proof of a donation to an orphanage.

On the 30th of last month, an SK hynix employee identified as A posted on the anonymous workplace community "Blind," writing, "I want to brag a little today. I just went out and spent some money," and added, "I think I just made the wisest purchase of my life."
A said, "I spent money today, but I don't feel even a little bit of regret," and continued, "It may look small to others, but it was the happiest spending I've ever done." A explained that they had bought and delivered 10 pizzas, fruit, and snacks to an orphanage in Jochiwon, Sejong City.
A shared the reason behind the donation, saying, "My school days were so difficult that I promised myself back then that once I got a job and settled down, I would definitely donate to an orphanage and send them good food. It just took me far too long to make that happen."

A went on, "Before going, I went grocery shopping with such a happy heart. I tasted the fruit to make sure it was good and chose everything with care so the kids could enjoy it. But after I came back, I felt this complicated mix of happiness and deep sadness," adding, "On the drive home I couldn't understand why I felt so sad. It almost felt like I was the one who had been comforted. I just want all the children to be happy, but I'm upset because I'm afraid reality might not be like that."
A also wrote, "I've been scraping by all this time, but today, for the first time, it felt like I spent money the way money is meant to be spent," and encouraged others by saying, "If you've ever had a thought like this, give it a try. You really don't have to be rich to be generous to others."

In response, A said, "I didn't do anything big, so I never expected to receive this much support," and offered a tip: "If you're thinking of visiting an orphanage, call ahead and ask what they need. Meanwhile, SK hynix recorded an operating profit of 47.2063 trillion won last year, the highest in its history. As a result, the profit-sharing bonus (PS) paid to employees is expected to rise significantly, with some estimates suggesting it will reach at least 140 million won per person.
