[The Financial News] On the 2nd, Jung Chung-rae, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated regarding a proposed merger with the Rebuilding Korea Party, "If the party members tell me to go, I will go, and if they tell me to stop, I will stop," indicating that he intends to leave the decision to a vote by party members.
At the supreme council meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Jung concluded his remarks by saying, "Ultimately, the party leader bears responsibility for everything that happens in the party. These issues are occurring because the party leader is lacking."
He went on, "I will do my best each and every day, and those days will add up to my term in office," adding, "I will ask our party members which path to take and follow the path they choose. I hope our party members will stand together with their party leader."
