[Financial News] "It already feels like I’ve won."
Arden Cho, the Korean American actor who voices the lead character Rumi in the Netflix original film "KPop Demon Hunters," used these words when speaking about the film’s chances at the Grammy Awards.
In an interview held on the 30th of last month in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Cho said, "Just being nominated is a huge honor and already feels like recognition," adding, "I feel I’ve received enough love and support, so it already feels like a win."
She recalled that during the Critics' Choice Awards, she was especially moved when director Maggie Kang and the cast said, "We’ve already won in our own way."
"KPop Demon Hunters" won Best Animated Feature at the 31st Critics' Choice Awards, beating out films from Disney and Pixar. The film’s theme song "Golden" also took home Best Song, giving the project two awards in total.
Looking back on the global success of "KPop Demon Hunters," Cho described it as "a level of success and love no one expected," and noted, "As the film gained so much love, I also got to spend more time with the actors and singers involved." Because of the nature of animation and the production process, the cast recorded their voice work separately.
In the film, the virtual girl group Huntrix from "KPop Demon Hunters" will compete at the Grammy Awards against Rosé’s "APT." for Song of the Year.
A longtime K-pop fan, Cho said, "I really love Rosé as well, but I’m a fan of Huntrix," and added, "I hope both songs achieve great results." She went on, "I hope this year’s nominations and wins open up even more opportunities for Korean artists."
