The Financial News reported that the Netflix animated film KPop Demon Hunters' original soundtrack "Golden" has been named the winner in the Best Song Written for Visual Media category at the 68th Grammy Awards.
"Golden" was announced as the winner during the Grammy Awards' premiere ceremony held on the 1st (local time) in Los Angeles. The award is presented to the songwriters who created the track.
As a result, EJAE, Teddy Park, 24, and the songwriting team Idio (Lee Yu-han, Kwak Joong-gyu, and Nam Hee-dong), who all worked on the song, have become Grammy winners. This marks the first time that K-pop songwriters or producers have won a Grammy.
In his acceptance speech, 24 stated, "I dedicate this honor to Teddy Park, a pioneer of K-pop who has been with us through every step of this journey."
Variety reported, "KPop Demon Hunters' 'Golden' has become the first K-pop song in history to win a Grammy," noting that the group is riding a wave of success. The outlet also highlighted the song's chorus line, "It's our moment," to underscore that KPop Demon Hunters are continuing their peak moment.
"Golden" received nominations in a total of five categories. In addition to Song of the Year, it was shortlisted for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Best Song Written for Visual Media, and, through the David Guetta remix, for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical. The latter refers to the version of "Golden" remixed by French DJ and producer David Guetta. The soundtrack itself was also nominated for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.
