\rThe Financial News reported that an email has been released alleging that Microsoft (MS) co-founder Bill Gates asked the late Jeffrey Edward Epstein, a convicted sex offender who exploited minors, for help with a sexually transmitted disease (STD) he allegedly contracted through an extramarital affair.
According to foreign media including Financial Times (FT), the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) on the 30th (local time) released an additional three million pages of "Epstein documents," which include this allegation.
One email, believed to have been sent by Epstein himself, claims that Gates contracted an STD after having relationships with Russian women. According to the email, Gates tried to hide this from his then-wife and asked Epstein to obtain antibiotics for him.
A spokesperson for Gates called the allegation "outrageous and completely false," arguing that "Epstein, frustrated that his relationship with Gates had ended, attempted to damage his reputation." Gates had previously said in a media interview about Epstein, "I met him several times to discuss philanthropy, but trusting him was a huge mistake."
Jeffrey Edward Epstein, a former hedge fund manager, was arrested on charges of sexually abusing dozens of minors and died by suicide in a New York City jail in 2019.
The documents released that day also show that Epstein exchanged emails with Howard William Lutnick, the U.S. Secretary of Commerce. In late December 2012, Lutnick asked whether he could visit Epstein's privately owned island for lunch, and later Epstein sent Lutnick a message saying it had been "nice to see" him.
Lutnick had previously claimed that he cut off contact with Epstein after 2005, but the documents suggest otherwise. In a phone call with The New York Times (NYT), Lutnick insisted, "I did not spend time with Epstein."
The newly released emails also include exchanges with Elon Musk, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tesla, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and Sergey Brin, co-founder of Google.
