[The Financial News] The mutual alienation-of-affection lawsuits filed by former announcer and broadcaster Park Ji-yoon, 46, and her husband, broadcaster Choi Dong-seok, 47, have both been dismissed.
According to Newsis and other outlets on the 30th, the Single-Judge Family Division 2 of the Jeju District Court on the 27th dismissed both the lawsuit filed by Park Ji-yoon against Choi Dong-seok’s acquaintance A, seeking damages over an alleged extramarital affair, and a suit of the same nature filed by Choi against Park’s acquaintance B.
Park Ji-yoon had first filed a lawsuit against the alleged mistress in July 2024, and Choi Dong-seok responded with a counter-suit in September of the same year.
The court consolidated the two cases and heard them together, and during the proceedings both sides denied having affairs.
The two, who joined the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) as 30th-class announcers in the same cohort, married in 2009 and have one son and one daughter.
Their marriage began to fall apart in 2023, 14 years after the wedding, when they initiated divorce proceedings.
As the divorce case proceeded, the couple filed alienation-of-affection suits against each other’s acquaintances, turning the breakup into a bitter legal battle.
The main divorce trial is scheduled to resume in April.
Shortly after the ruling on the mutual alienation suits, Park Ji-yoon posted on social media, sharing a note she received from a flight attendant and writing, "I will try to stay even stronger. Thank you."
Choi Dong-seok also shared moments from daily life with his children on his social media, writing, "Practically my only meal today. A bit of rice that Ian (my son) left behind."
