[The Financial News] The Dubai chewy cookie, developed in South Korea and still enjoying huge popularity there, has now made its way to Dubai. Locals have even given this Dubai chewy cookie a new name.
On the 22nd (local time), Time Out Dubai, a local culture outlet, reported that a café in Dubai recently introduced a "Dubai Chocolate Chewy Cookie." The cookie is made with pistachio spread, white chocolate, kunafa baked in butter, marshmallows, and cocoa powder.
The price was somewhat higher than in South Korea, where it usually sells for around 8,000 won. In Dubai, one cookie costs 29 dirhams, or about 11,000 won.
After a video of the product was posted on TikTok and other social networking services (SNS), users reacted by saying, "The Dubai chewy cookie that went viral in Korea has finally arrived in Dubai."
One comment on the video read, "It's funny that in Korea it's called the 'Dubai chewy cookie,' but in Dubai it's called the 'Korea chewy cookie.'"
According to Yonhap News TV, interest in the Dubai chewy cookie is also growing in Japan. On the 16th, Japanese SNS platforms saw a series of promotional posts from cafés selling the cookie, mainly around Shinjuku in Tokyo.
Since early this month, mentions of the keyword "Dubai Chewy Cookie" on Japanese SNS have reportedly increased, and the number of shops selling it has also grown.
