According to The Financial News, Daehan Shipbuilding secured orders for four Suezmax crude oil tankers from new clients earlier this month, and on the 28th it won additional orders for two vessels of the same type from a shipping company based in Europe. The total value of the new contracts is estimated at about 250 billion won.
In the global Suezmax crude oil tanker market this month, Daehan Shipbuilding won orders for six out of a total of eleven vessels placed worldwide. The company said this once again proves its status as the defending champion in the Suezmax segment. It added that its order backlog now stands at around 30 vessels, securing a stable workload equivalent to roughly three years of construction.
Jin Gi-bong, head of sales at Daehan Shipbuilding, stated, "Among global shipping companies, there is now a firm perception that Daehan Shipbuilding builds the best Suezmax crude oil tankers, and as a result, the share of repeat orders from existing shipowners continues to rise." He added, "We will further strengthen our dominant position in the Suezmax market based on deep trust with our long-standing clients."
The newly ordered vessels are scheduled for delivery in January and May 2029, respectively.
