[The Financial News] Syuka World, an economic YouTube channel with 3.65 million subscribers, uploaded an analysis video on the recent KOSPI boom on the 27th titled "1,000 Trillion Electronics, 80-NIX Blazing Rally on KOSPI." The video has since turned into what viewers call a "pilgrimage spot" and a "go-to place for mockery."
He Once Mocked KOSPI 5000... Syuka Posts a Video Saying, "I Really Can’t Believe It"
In the video, Syuka World talked about Samsung Electronics’ market capitalization surpassing 1,000 trillion won and the sharp surge in the KOSPI index.
Speaking in an excited tone, he said, "The KOSPI, which we never imagined, has reached 5,000. It has risen in a way that is really unbelievable," adding, "It’s no exaggeration to say that the last five months have been five crazy months that will go down in history."
Comparing this to the fact that the KOSPI index was around 2,398 a year ago, he noted, "It has climbed 2,600 points. We’ve had a truly unbelievable year," and went on to celebrate the arrival of the KOSPI 5000 era.
Reactions from internet users were cold after the video was posted.
Most comments were negative, such as, "You laughed at 5,000 before. So you need a skin this thick to be a YouTuber," "So he’s protecting his pride. Yet he still refuses to put ‘KOSPI 5000’ on the thumbnail," and "He even left the ‘KOSPI 5000’ keyword out of the title. Cunning."
The reason this video analyzing the KOSPI’s red-hot bull market has become an object of ridicule goes back to a video from April last year, in which Syuka World mocked then-presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung’s campaign pledge to push the KOSPI to 5,000.

Before the presidential election, on April 21 last year, Syuka World appeared on the economic YouTube channel Money Comics and discussed the pledge in a segment titled "The Era of Election Pledges – ‘Again, KOSPI 5000.’"
He scoffed, saying, "Resolve the Korea discount and open the era of 5,000?" and continued, "One-strike-out for stock price manipulation, plus revising commercial law and this and that, all the good stuff, and then KOSPI 5000," while clapping with exaggerated gestures.
When another guest asked, "Is that even possible?", Syuka replied, "It’s a campaign pledge, so not 3,000 or 4,000, but 5,000," then covered his face with his hand and added sarcastically, "How much does it have to go up from here? It only needs to rise exactly 100%. The presidential election theme stock: ‘KOSPI.’"
Netizens Say, "So This Is the Mockery Hot Spot? I Came on a Pilgrimage"
That video has now been immortalized with the arrival of the KOSPI 5000 era.
Internet users poked fun at Syuka World with comments like, "I heard this is the hot spot, so I came here on a pilgrimage," "I came on a pilgrimage to see Syuka, who doesn’t really understand politics. Let’s go KOSPI 5000–6000," "Do you not even watch the news these days, Syuka?", and "Now that 5,000 has become reality, reading these comments is hilarious."
The negative sentiment toward Syuka World did not stop there.
On an article about Cheong Wa Dae inviting popular YouTubers and creators on the 27th to hear their ideas on strategies for communicating with young people, comments criticizing Syuka World also appeared.
At the meeting, presided over by Heo Eun-ah, Secretary for National Integration at Cheong Wa Dae, 19 YouTubers, creators, and association representatives attended, including Syuka World, short-form creator KIMPRO with 130 million subscribers, and Lee Nak-jun, original author of the drama "Trauma Center: Golden Hour."
At the event, Syuka World advised, "When talking with young people, policy discussions need to be conducted in the language of youth, not in traditional political language, in order to gain their empathy."
Comments on these articles included reactions such as, "Isn’t he the one who invests in the country’s downfall?" and "Didn’t he mock KOSPI 5000? He should apologize before attending such a meeting."
