[The Financial News] Ive's agency Starship Entertainment on the 28th denied speculation that Jang Won-young was launching her own business.
According to the Korea Intellectual Property Rights Information Service (KIPRIS) that day, trademark applications were filed for "FOREVER:CHERRY," "Forever: Cherry," and a cherry-shaped logo. The applicant is Jang Won-young, and the designated goods include 30 items such as cosmetics, essential oils, and electric toothbrushes.
This led to speculation that Jang Won-young might be moving into her own brand business.
The agency dismissed the rumors in an official press release the same day, stating, "'FOREVER:CHERRY' is a brand collaboration project and not Jang Won-young's personal business."
Regarding the recent trademark filings, the agency explained, "The name deeply reflects the artist's unique identity and image." It continued, "Therefore, in order to prevent indiscriminate commercial exploitation and brand abuse by third parties that could occur after the project ends, we agreed with the brand to file the application under Jang Won-young's name."
It added, "The reason the scope of the application is so broad is also a preemptive measure to prevent the artist's image from being misused across different business sectors."
On the 12th, Jang Won-young posted a video on her personal Instagram, tagging the "Forever: Cherry" Instagram account and adding pink ribbon and cherry emojis. The account was found to have been created on January 10.
