[The Financial News] Samsung Electronics announced on the 28th that it has developed a privacy protection feature that shields mobile screens from prying eyes without the need for a separate screen protector film.
The screen remains clearly visible from the front, but it darkens when viewed from the side, preventing people nearby from seeing what is on your phone. This technology is expected to debut in the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, which will be unveiled in February.
Users can freely choose their preferred level of privacy protection. It is also possible to activate the feature only for specific apps or certain notifications. With a visibility control option, users can adjust how much they want to block others from viewing the screen. The company says it delivers the device’s original image quality without the brightness and picture degradation often associated with privacy films.
Samsung Electronics developed this feature over more than five years of research and development, taking into account smartphone usage patterns, privacy needs, and required security levels.
Alongside its existing hardware-based security solutions such as Samsung Knox Vault and Samsung Knox Matrix, which comprehensively protect connected devices and networks within the Galaxy Ecosystem, Samsung Electronics is now adding pixel-level privacy protection on the device itself, further strengthening mobile security on all fronts under the Samsung Knox framework.
