[Financial News] The Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) and the Korea Securities Dealers Automated Quotations (KOSDAQ) both hit all-time highs on the 26th. The KOSDAQ index broke through the 1,000-point mark at the opening for the first time in four years, setting a new record high.
As of 10:41 a.m., the KOSPI was trading at 4,961.07, down 29 points (0.58%) from the previous session. The index had opened at 4,997.54, up 7.47 points (0.15%) from the previous day, but later turned lower.
In early trading, the index briefly attempted to firmly establish itself above the 5,000-point level, but it is now pausing and consolidating around the 4,900-point range.
In the KOSPI Market, individual investors are net buyers of 344.7 billion won worth of shares, while foreign investors and institutions are net sellers of 170.8 billion won and 164.3 billion won, respectively.
Among the top 14 companies by market capitalization, KB Financial Group (up 1.99%), Hanwha Aerospace (up 0.96%), Samsung C&T (up 0.65%), and LG Energy Solution (up 0.49%) are gaining ground.
Samsung Electronics, the largest stock by market capitalization, is trading at 152,500 won, up 0.26% from the previous session.
By contrast, SK hynix (down 2.87%), HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (down 2.39%), Kia (down 2.39%), and Hyundai Motor Company (down 1.76%) are all declining.
The KOSDAQ index is trading at 1,051.14, up 57.21 points (5.76%) from the previous day.
The index opened at 1,003.90, up 9.97 points (1.00%). It is the first time since January 6, 2022, when it reached 1,003.01, that the so-called 1,000-point KOSDAQ level has been surpassed during intraday trading.
The KOSDAQ index has surged past the 1,050-point mark and is now approaching the 1,060-point level.
As the KOSDAQ index spiked, a sidecar — a temporary suspension of program buy orders — was triggered at around 9:59 a.m.
