[The Financial News] Lee Jae Myung on the 24th shared an article about how outlooks on the Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) market are sharply divided along political lines, and commented, "In some ways, it is regrettable."
On the same day, Lee posted on his social networking service (SNS) account an article titled "The KOSPI Has Become a Political Theme: Will It Rise or Fall?" He wrote that it offered "an interesting analysis in many respects, including stock holdings, domestic and overseas investment tendencies, and future economic forecasts."
He went on to say, "I hope that, going beyond small differences, we can all join forces to overcome this crisis together and move toward a future of shared prosperity."
The article in question explains that as the KOSPI recently surpassed the 5,000-point mark, political leanings are influencing economic sentiment. It cites a public opinion survey showing that progressives are generally optimistic about stock prices over the next year, while conservatives tend to be pessimistic, and that preferences for domestic versus overseas stocks differ clearly depending on party affiliation.
