[The Financial News] A woman in her 60s, who always put her family first and was known for her devotion to her parents, has become a star in the sky after donating her organs and saving three lives following brain death.
According to the Korea Organ Donation Agency on the 22nd, Ji Jeong-soon, 68, donated her liver and both kidneys at Korea University Guro Hospital on November 14 last year, saving three people before she passed away.
On November 3 last year, Ji collapsed at home while doing the dishes after complaining of a headache.
She was rushed to the hospital and received intensive treatment from the medical staff, but she never regained consciousness and was ultimately declared brain-dead.
Her family struggled to accept that Ji had fallen into a brain-dead state and would never wake up again. However, they decided to proceed with the donation, saying they could remember her as someone who did a good deed by saving other lives at the very end of her own.
Born in Seoul as the youngest of seven siblings, Ji was said to have a bright and caring personality, and she was quick to both tears and laughter.
She loved listening to singer Na Hoon-a’s songs and enjoyed traveling and taking walks. From the age of 19, she cared for her father, who had collapsed from a stroke, for more than seven years until he passed away, remembered as a deeply devoted daughter and a self-sacrificing person who always put her family first.
Her daughter, Eoh Yu-gyeong, offered a final farewell, saying, "There was never a time in my life when I missed you, Mom. You were always right by my side. But after about two months, I started missing you so much. I still don’t know how I’m supposed to go on, and it feels overwhelming, but even though I can’t be like you, I’ll take good care of Dad and the rest of the family and live well. Please rest in peace in heaven. I love you."
