[The Financial News] People wish to avoid hardship and to feel only joy and happiness. But that dream will never come true. There are difficult experiences that we inevitably face in life, even if the degree and impact differ, and those hardships can either make us stronger or leave us more fragile.
The new book "Live Your Good Days" follows author Jung Eun-hye, who suffered from depression during her school years. It traces how she stepped out of inner isolation, opened the door to the outside world, and crossed the thresholds of life, gaining a series of insights along the way.
In anthropology, there is a term "liminal space," meaning a threshold space. It refers to the wild or in-between realm that a child in a tribal society enters in order to become an adult. There, the child feels the anxiety of being nothing at all, while at the same time encountering the possibility of becoming anything. Jung Eun-hye says she wrote this book when she sensed that she was once again standing in such a threshold space.
