[The Financial News] Allegations have emerged that former BigBang member Seungri tried to prepare a "second Burning Sun nightclub" using the Kingdom of Cambodia as his base.
On the 19th, the YouTube channel "Jirit Jirit" uploaded a video titled "Exclusive investigative files by reporter Oh Hyuk Jin on Hwang Hana, Seungri, and Park Yoo-chun revealed."
In the video, Ilyo Sisa reporter Oh Hyuk Jin said, "Seungri is hanging around with money launderers, people involved in voice phishing schemes, and figures connected to casinos. We have been receiving tips that he is partying together with executives from criminal compounds in the Kingdom of Cambodia."
He continued, "He tried to create something like a second Burning Sun nightclub in the Kingdom of Cambodia. He was trying to push his business in that direction," adding, "Seungri still has a solid fan base in Japan, but in our country his reputation has completely collapsed. In Southeast Asia, however, he still has the image of being a former BigBang member, so it seems he was trying to prepare illegal business ventures based on that."
He also noted, "As far as I know, Seungri mainly travels back and forth between the Kingdom of Cambodia and Thailand. I do not know how often he comes into Korea, but it is not that he never comes back at all."

Previously, Seungri became the center of controversy after a video surfaced showing him attending a club event in the Kingdom of Cambodia.
In that video, he said, "When I said I was going to the Kingdom of Cambodia, people around me asked if it would be dangerous," and then remarked, "The Kingdom of Cambodia is the best country in Asia." In particular, the logo displayed behind Seungri sparked speculation about possible links to "Prince Brewing" and "Prince Holding Group."
This was because Prince Holding Group has been cited as one of the operators of Weinch, a large criminal compound in the Kingdom of Cambodia. Prince Brewing is also known as a brand under that group. However, there has been no official confirmation of any direct business relationship between Seungri and these companies.
Seungri was identified as a key figure in the so-called Burning Sun scandal, leading him to leave the group in 2019 and be expelled from the entertainment industry.
In 2022, the Supreme Court of Korea found Seungri guilty on nine charges, including habitual gambling, prostitution, arranging prostitution, violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, violating the Foreign Exchange Transactions Act, violating the Food Sanitation Act, occupational embezzlement, violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes (embezzlement), and instigating special assault. His prison sentence of one year and six months was finalized, and he was released from Yeoju Prison in Gyeonggi Province on February 8, 2023.
