Fasoo announced on the 21st that it has built an artificial intelligence (AI) service for the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) using its on-premises AI platform ELM (Enterprise Language Model).
KIST is leading an AI transformation (AX) initiative to innovate both research and everyday operations with AI. To streamline internal administrative work and accelerate research, it partnered with Fasoo to develop AI services that provide a smart document search service and a research and development proposal drafting service. These services are designed to improve administrative efficiency and research speed by minimizing researchers’ unnecessary effort and time.
ELM is an AI platform based on a small large language model (sLLM) that has earned Good Software Certification (GS Certification) for its stability and reliability. It can be customized for a wide range of industries and use cases, including report writing, internal data analysis, and customer support. Because it integrates with Fasoo’s data protection and management solutions, organizations can apply consistent security policies from training data to outputs and safeguard personal information.
In the KIST project, Fasoo placed particular emphasis on security and made extensive use of the latest retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) technologies. The implementation includes a RAG pipeline to safely use internal data, linkage with security access permissions defined for each dataset, detection and de-identification of personal information through the AI-based privacy solution AI-R Privacy, an intent classification feature that securely calls real-time information such as employee vacation status directly from internal databases, and a source verification feature to minimize hallucinations.
The research and development proposal drafting service is further differentiated by an Agent Debate Feature built on Agentic AI technology. This feature assumes roles such as a moderator and domain experts, presenting opinions and information from multiple perspectives. It supports the creation, editing, evaluation, and source verification of research and development proposals.
Kyungkoo Yoon, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Fasoo, said, "Building on this KIST project, where our strongest capabilities in data security and management are combined with the latest AI technologies, we will accelerate our push into the market as a leading provider of on-premises AI solutions with robust security controls."
