[Financial News] A board-certified dermatologist conducted an experiment by consuming, in large quantities, the very foods she routinely warns her patients to avoid. The result: within just one week, key indicators of skin aging had clearly worsened, causing quite a stir.

Doctor who ate only sugar and flour for a week... swollen face and acne breakouts
\r\nOn the 15th, a video titled “What Happens When a Dermatologist Intentionally Ruins Her Skin for 7 Days” was uploaded to the YouTube channel run by Dermatologist Lee Seung-joo, “Pichinnam Lee Seung-joo.” Explaining the video, she said, “I’m going to film what happens to my skin when, for one week, I eat only the foods I usually tell my patients not to eat.”
In the video, she carries out an experiment in which, for an entire week, she consumes only foods she normally advises patients to avoid, such as sugar, refined carbohydrates, dairy products, and greasy instant foods.
From the very first day, she ate castella cake and sweet snacks, drank low-fat milk, and had sweetened coffee on an empty stomach. After that, her high-sugar, high-fat diet continued with snacks and sugary drinks, sweet lattes, hamburger meals and pizza, French fries, and soda, and even included scenes of eating pork belly and drinking alcohol.
After a few days, her body and skin began reacting immediately, with facial swelling and severe fatigue. She explained that facial oiliness and sebum secretion increased noticeably, and that small comedonal acne and inflammatory breakouts appeared. Existing atopic dermatitis symptoms also worsened, leading to itching and inflammatory reactions on her legs. She added that after drinking alcohol, histamine reactions triggered by the alcohol made the itching even more intense.
She continued to drink sugary beverages and eat late-night snacks, and wrapped up the experiment with more high-sugar items such as dalgona lattes. “Seeing breakouts pop up here and there, I had a feeling my skin age would come out older,” she predicted.

Skin age jumped from 31 to 36 in just one week

\r\nHer prediction turned out to be exactly right. Measurements taken with a skin analysis device showed that her skin age, which had been at the level of a 31-year-old before the experiment, had risen to 36, effectively aging five years in just one week. Her skin type also shifted from combination to oily, and ultraviolet imaging clearly revealed increased sebum and worsening pore condition, especially around the nose.
Lee Seung-joo said, “I really want to show these results to my patients,” adding, “It makes what I’ve been saying about watching what you eat even more convincing.” She emphasized, “Even though I only ate like this for a single week, my skin changed this much. Just by managing your eating habits, your skin condition can improve significantly.”
