[Financial News] Paris Baguette's recently launched new product "Berry Chewy Ball" is drawing controversy online, with many saying its appearance "looks like an adults-only product."
According to several online communities on the 20th, photos of the "Berry Chewy Ball" and reviews from people who visited stores are spreading rapidly.
User A, who posted one of the reviews, wrote, "I stopped by Paris Baguette to buy some bread for my wife, and I couldn’t believe my eyes. I ended up buying it like I was under a spell," sharing a proof shot of the purchase.
Netizens who saw the photos commented, "You don’t even need a dirty mind, most people would think the same thing," "This is going to get discontinued," "Women’s communities are going to explode over this," "Even as a man, I think it looks awful," "What were they thinking when they made this?" "Do the different shapes just reflect each baker’s personal taste?" "At that level, even the staff must have hesitated to put it out," and "Isn't this way too sexual?"—reacting that the product resembles a part of the female body.
One netizen wrote, "I didn’t go there to buy the Berry Chewy Ball, I was actually looking for a chocolate conch bread, but as I was glancing around, a staff member told me, 'Berry Chewy Ball is sold out,'" expressing disbelief at the situation.
However, judging from the various photos uploaded by netizens, the shape differs from store to store. This is because the way the strawberry cream cheese filling oozes out through the hole formed on top of the chewy ball during baking changes how it looks.
One netizen, who said they work at Paris Baguette, posted a real-life photo of several Berry Chewy Balls on a tray, saying, "This is what they look like at our store."
Another netizen also uploaded a photo in which the strawberry cream cheese had not flowed out of the Berry Chewy Ball, adding, "This is how it’s originally supposed to look. They don’t all look like that."
Meanwhile, "Berry Chewy Ball" was released as one of 15 products in Paris Baguette's "Berry Bomb Festa" promotion, which showcases a variety of fresh strawberry baked goods. The company explains that the soft, chewy bread is filled with strawberry cream cheese, allowing customers to fully enjoy the flavor of strawberries in every bite.
