[The Financial News] A man and woman were caught having sex on one of London’s iconic red double-decker buses, sparking controversy locally.
On the 2nd (local time), several British media outlets, including the tabloid Daily Star, reported that at around 6:40 p.m. on December 29 last year, a man and woman were seen engaging in an obscene sexual act on a double-decker bus traveling along Uxbridge Road in Hayes, west London.
The incident came to light after a roughly 20-second video, filmed on a mobile phone by a member of the public who witnessed the scene, spread rapidly on social networking service (SNS) platforms. In the footage, a woman can be seen straddling a man seated on the very back seat of the upper deck of the bus and moving up and down.
Residents in the area who saw the scene reacted by saying, "Doing this in a public place is insane," "They're like animals," and "It’s truly disgusting that they would do this on public transport." In response, a spokesperson for Transport for London (TfL) said, "We are working with the bus operator and the Metropolitan Police Service (the Met) to investigate the video circulating on SNS involving two passengers on a bus in the Hayes area."
The outlet explained, "All users of London’s public transport must comply with The Public Service Vehicles (Conduct of Drivers, Inspectors, Conductors and Passengers) Regulations 1990," adding, "Under Article 6 of these regulations, passengers must not cause inconvenience or disturbance to other passengers, and may be asked to leave the vehicle if they do so."
The incident was also reported to the police. A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Service (the Met) said, "On December 31 last year, we received a report regarding the video and deemed that it contained behavior amounting to a public order offense," adding, "The investigation has been closed due to a lack of leads, but we may consider reopening it if further information comes to light."
