Hyundai Motor Group Recruits Former Tesla AI and Robotics Expert Milan Kovac

[Financial News] Hyundai Motor Group announced on the 16th that it has appointed Milan Kovac, a world-renowned expert in artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and autonomous driving, as an advisor to Hyundai Motor Group and as an outside director of Boston Dynamics.
By bringing on a global leader to strengthen its technological leadership based on the convergence of AI and robotics and to drive a shift in industrial paradigms, Hyundai Motor Group aims to accelerate innovation. Milan Kovac has worked for about 20 years in software, hardware, and AI-based robotic systems.
Until recently at Tesla, he led the development of humanoid robots and camera-based, vision-centric autonomous driving systems, overseeing several projects including "Optimus." He is widely regarded as having had a profound impact across the related industries.
With this recruitment, Hyundai Motor Group plans to accelerate AI-based robotics innovation at Boston Dynamics and to speed up the mid- to long-term strategy and commercialization of its innovative robot lineup, including the quadruped robot Spot and the recently unveiled Atlas.
Milan Kovac will provide Hyundai Motor Group with strategic advice on AI and engineering, and will explore ways to apply advanced AI and robotics technologies by leveraging the Group’s industrial base across various ecosystems such as manufacturing, logistics, and services.
