Samsung C&T Corporation announced on the 15th that it completed a pilot food delivery robot service last year at the Raemian Leaders One complex in Seocho District, Seoul, in collaboration with autonomous robot company Neubility.
Within the apartment complex, the company resolved technical issues such as integration with automatic doors at shared entrances and elevator call systems, and, through consultations with the residents’ representative council and the management office, established a commercial door-to-door service in which robots deliver directly to each household’s front door. During the pilot period, 95% of residents who used the food delivery robot service reported being satisfied. The survey, conducted with 113 resident users, showed that 99% agreed on the need for the service, and 74% expressed willingness to use it as a paid service.
The food delivery robots travel autonomously at normal walking speed and move safely within the complex. Only the customer who placed the order can pick up the food, ensuring that deliveries arrive intact without damage. The service also reduces safety risks and conflicts caused by delivery vehicles moving through the complex and by the entry of non-residents.
Starting this year, the food delivery robot service, which had been operating only in the vicinity of the Raemian Leaders One complex, will be expanded to cover around 130 food and beverage outlets within a 1.2-kilometer radius. By linking the service with the Yogiyo delivery platform, the company plans to broaden residents’ choices and further enhance satisfaction.
Samsung C&T Corporation has been building an ecosystem for robot utilization in residential spaces by piloting various robot-based services, including a home AI companion robot, an underground parking lot luggage delivery robot, and food delivery robots. The company plans to continue delivering customer-centric innovation by offering robot services that seamlessly integrate into residents’ daily lives and provide greater convenience.
Meanwhile, Samsung C&T Corporation has applied robot solutions across a range of fields, including the construction of a robot-friendly building (NAVER 1784 in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi Province), the establishment of an integrated control system for heterogeneous office robots (Aju Smart Tower in Gangdong-gu, Seoul), and the operation of a food delivery robot service at a golf course (Anyang Country Club).
“In preparation for an era in which robots are naturally embedded in everyday life, we are continuously creating new residential experiences that residents can truly feel,” said Cho Hye-jung, Head of the DxP Division and vice president at Samsung C&T Corporation. “We plan to gradually expand a robot ecosystem that brings tangible changes to residents’ daily lives, not only through food delivery robots but also through a variety of other services.”
