After 'Squid Game' Comes Casino Drama 'The Dealer'...Planned and Produced by Hwang Dong-hyuk

[Financial News] Netflix has officially announced the next project from Squid Game director Hwang Dong-hyuk. Titled The Dealer, the series will feature Hwang as planner and producer.
On the 14th, Netflix confirmed production of the new series The Dealer and unveiled the casting of Jung So-min, Ryoo Seung-bum, Lee Soo-hyuk, and Ryu Kyung-soo.
The Dealer is a crime drama that follows casino dealer Geon-hwa, who plunges into a high-stakes gambling world full of danger in order to protect her wedding plans, which have been thrown into crisis.
Jung So-min plays Jung Geon-hwa. An ace dealer who deftly handles casino patrons, Geon-hwa keeps her distance from drinking and gambling for fun, but after being scammed while trying to secure a newlywed home and seeing her wedding plans fall apart overnight, she awakens her hidden talents and dives into the gambling scene to set things right.
Ryoo Seung-bum takes on the role of Hwang Chi-su, who joins Geon-hwa’s scheme. Chi-su has been surviving by gambling with money he hustles around the casino, and eventually teams up with Geon-hwa.
Lee Soo-hyuk will appear as Jo Jun, a player who shakes up the casino floor. With his exceptional skills and poker face, Jo Jun dominates the tables, and his arrival is expected to inject a fresh sense of tension.
Ryu Kyung-soo plays Choi Woo-seung, Geon-hwa’s boyfriend and a violent-crimes detective. He is endlessly affectionate in front of Geon-hwa, but when it comes to his cases, he is a character who pursues them to the very end.
Cinematographer Choi Young-hwan, known for the films Smugglers, Veteran, Tazza: The High Rollers, and The Thieves, will direct the series. Joining him at the center of the project is Hwang Dong-hyuk, director and head of Firstman Studio, which produced the Squid Game series, serving as planner and producer.
