[Financial News] Singer and actress Seohyun of Girls' Generation (SNSD) is making her debut as a violinist.
On March 13 at 8 p.m., Seohyun will appear as a special guest soloist at the 8th regular concert of the Sol Philharmonic Orchestra, to be held at LOTTE Concert Hall in Songpa District, Seoul.
At this concert, Seohyun will perform Vittorio Monti's masterpiece "Csárdás," in which intense rhythms and heartrending melodies intersect, offering the audience the charm of classical music.
Seohyun has been learning the violin for only about five months as a hobby and jokingly calls herself a "barinist"—a playful term combining "violin" and "child" to mean a beginner. For this recital as well, her aim is not the perfection of a professional performer, but to showcase the pure passion of someone who genuinely enjoys music.
The Sol Philharmonic Orchestra, with which Seohyun will perform, is likewise made up not of professional musicians but of people who love classical music. It is said that Seohyun decided to join the collaboration in the hope that, by standing on stage herself, she could lower the barrier to classical music and help more members of the public feel familiar with the genre.
Seohyun said, "I hope that through my attempt, many people will feel closer to classical music and discover a new kind of enjoyment," adding, "I want to convey that, just like pop music, classical music can also be easily and joyfully enjoyed by anyone as 'music for all of us.'"
Although she started the violin as a hobby, Seohyun has been working hard for this performance, rehearsing closely with the orchestra. A representative of the Sol Philharmonic Orchestra also commented, "With Seohyun's participation, we expect the threshold for classical concerts to become significantly lower," and added, "It will be a very special stage imbued with a pure love of music."
