\rNARA, Japan – Financial News, by reporter Sung Seok-woo.On the morning of the 14th, President Lee Jae-myung of South Korea held a friendship event between the two leaders with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi at Horyu-ji Temple in Nara Prefecture.
At around 9:05 a.m., President Lee arrived at the site in a vehicle bearing the Taegeukgi, the national flag of South Korea, and shook hands with Prime Minister Takaichi, saying with a laugh, “Oh, your hand is cold.” He then asked, “Do you come here often, Prime Minister? Did you visit here on school trips when you were young?”
The two leaders then walked together around the central gate and the five-story wooden pagoda. In front of the pagoda, President Lee asked how the wooden structure had been preserved without suffering fire damage, and, while listening to an explanation from the chief monk, he reached out to touch one of the pillars. After a commemorative photo, he remarked, “It is truly remarkable.”
