[Financial News] The YouTube channel Psick Univ has issued an official apology over inappropriate remarks made by Kim Min-su toward Chef Kim Sihyun (nickname Baby Beast), who gained attention through Netflix’s Culinary Class Wars 2.
The controversy began with an episode titled "PSICK SHOW – Asking Napoli MAFPIA Who Won Season 1 of The Devil’s Plan: Chef’s Edition," uploaded to the Psick Univ YouTube channel on the 11th. In the video, which featured Napoli Matfia (Chef Kwon Sung-jun), the winner of Season 1 of Netflix’s Culinary Class Wars, as a guest, the issue arose from Kim Min-su’s comments about Baby Beast, a contestant from Season 2.
Kim Min-su asked Kwon Sung-jun, "Do you happen to know Baby Beast?" and, even after hearing that he did not know her personally, kept pressing with questions like, "Do you maybe have her phone number?" When Kwon Sung-jun hinted, "She was born in ’00," Kim Min-su shot back, "What’s the problem with that?"
He went further, sending a video message saying, "Hi, Baby Beast. I’m the adult beast," and, "I like you, and let’s go on a date together sometime. I want to ask her out on a date." Viewers criticized him not only for bringing up someone he had no personal relationship with in front of a guest on the show, but also for the rude and inappropriate nature of his remarks.
In the end, the Psick Univ team bowed their heads in an apology in a comment under the video, saying, "We apologize for causing discomfort by mentioning a chef who does not appear in this content," and, "We tried to immediately delete the problematic segment, but the process has been delayed due to system issues. We will resolve it as quickly as possible."
Psick Univ has previously come under fire over alleged disparaging remarks about Yeongyang County, North Gyeongsang Province, and sexually harassing comments involving Ive’s Jang Won-young. Its subscriber count, which once reached 3.18 million, dropped by more than 300,000 following these controversies and now stands at 2.84 million.
