[Financial News] Sales in Japan are rapidly growing for Zeta, an AI fiction platform operated by generative AI startup Scatter Lab.
Scatter Lab announced on the 13th that Zeta’s monthly sales in Japan exceeded 1.1 billion won for the first time in December last year, and that early this year its daily sales reached about 75 million won. Annual sales in Japan are projected to surpass 20 billion won in 2026.
Zeta is an AI fiction platform where users create stories in real time together with AI characters, and it entered the Japanese market in May 2024. By combining Scatter Lab’s AI capabilities and product planning expertise accumulated steadily since the 2010s, the service has driven strong user engagement locally and achieved rapid growth in just over a year.
Zeta is also leading in user metrics in Japan. According to mobile app market analytics service App Ape, as of December last year Zeta ranked a dominant No. 1 in user numbers among entertainment-focused AI apps in Japan. It held the top spot across monthly, weekly, and daily indicators, and as of December 31 last year its daily active users (DAU) exceeded 200,000, a level about 40% higher than the No. 2 app, showing a clear gap.
Meanwhile, recognizing these business achievements, Scatter Lab received the 3 Million Dollar Export Tower at the ceremony for the 62nd Trade Day held in December last year.
Kim Jongyoun, CEO of Scatter Lab, said, “Zeta is a platform that concentrates Scatter Lab’s AI technology and product planning capabilities, and it is proving its steep growth trajectory in the Japanese market through actual revenue and user metrics that surpass our Korean service,” adding, “We will continue to expand into global markets and grow into a 100-million-user global AI fiction platform.”
