[Financial News] At a resort in Thailand, footage of staff freely using guests’ personal belongings while cleaning a room has been captured, sparking controversy.
Newsis News Agency reported, citing foreign media outlets including The Thaiger on the 8th, that a Thai woman posted a video on her social media along with the caption, "I set up a camera on the table in my room just for fun and never expected to see something like this. Be careful when you stay at a resort or hotel."
According to the post, the woman visited her hometown for the New Year holidays and stayed at a resort, requesting room cleaning every day. The footage was captured by the camera she had placed on the table.
The video shows three staff members. They go beyond merely touching the personal items on the table, smelling the cosmetics and even opening them up to use them.
The woman said, "This resort had received good ratings on various booking platforms, and I trusted it because well-known Thai celebrities had stayed there," adding, "Nothing was stolen, but after this, I felt uncomfortable leaving my belongings in the room when going out."
She added, "I had planned to use this resort every year when visiting my hometown, but this incident made me change my mind."
After watching the video, online commenters reacted by saying things like, "I’ve always suspected this kind of thing. I even thought about lining up my stuff to see if anything was moved, but I kept forgetting to do it," and "Half of a perfume I left in a hotel room once disappeared. Since then, I always keep it locked in my suitcase."
Some users asked whether she had reported the incident to the resort, but she is said not to have given any particular response.
