[Financial News] Daniel Stern, an actor from the classic Christmas film ‘Home Alone’, has reportedly been indicted on charges of procuring prostitution, sending shockwaves through the public.
On the 12th (local time), U.S. outlet TMZ reported that “Daniel Stern received a summons from the Ventura County, California Sheriff’s Office on December 10 last year on charges of procuring prostitution.”
According to the report, he was caught in a police sting operation conducted at a hotel. Authorities have not released an official statement on whether he will be formally charged or on the next steps in the case, and Stern’s side has also not issued any comment.
In California, procuring or soliciting prostitution is classified as a felony. If convicted, a defendant can face a prison sentence of three, four, or six years, along with a fine of up to $10,000 (approximately 14.6 million won).
If the person involved is a minor under the age of 18, the penalties become more severe. In such cases, the prison term can increase to up to eight years, and the fine can rise to as much as $15,000 (about 21.9 million won). In particular, if the victim is under 15, a sentence of three to eight years in prison applies.
Daniel Stern gained worldwide popularity for his role as burglar Marv Merchants in the 1990 film ‘Home Alone’ and its sequel.
