The Financial News reports that rival rallies were held near the court ahead of the final hearing on former president Yoon Suk Yeol, who is charged as the leader of an insurrection.
At around 9:30 a.m. on the 9th, an anti-martial-law group calling for a death penalty request for Yoon and a pro-martial-law group demanding dismissal of the charges each held rallies near the Seoul Central District Court in Seocho District, Seoul. Both sides drew only a small number of participants. However, as the time for the prosecution’s sentencing request approached, police set up barricades and deployed officers on site in anticipation of larger crowds.

At 10 a.m. that day, Criminal Division 25 of the Seoul Central District Court, presided over by Judge Jee Kui-yeon, is scheduled to hold the final hearing in Yoon’s trial on charges of being the leader of an insurrection, bringing the arguments to a close. The prosecution’s sentencing request and Yoon’s final statement are expected to take place.
The statutory penalty for the crime of leading an insurrection is limited to death, life imprisonment or life confinement.
